Abandoned Knit Scarves Become Public “Love Notes”

Hey there,

For Valentine’s month, I’ve been collecting knit and crochet scarves that people no longer want and using them to “yarn bomb” messages of love around my city.

I’ve always been saddened by the lovingly made scarves at the Goodwill Outlets, which are the last place where donated items are sold before being thrown away or sent overseas. I decided to use these scarves for their original purpose—to show love to others.

I sew the salvaged scarves together to form tapestries large enough to fit around street lights and telephone poles. I take down each temporary yarn graffiti piece at the end of the month or when it begins to show signs of wear.

You can see more photos of the Salvaged Stitches project and a video of the yard bombing process here: https://makeanddocrew.com/yarn-bombing/

Thanks for your time and remember–you are loved.

Surprised by kindness

While I was checking out my groceries at grocery store and bagging my groceries this lady behind me in line gave the cashier 20 dollars to put towards my groceries. The problem was no one told me this is what she did. And didn’t notice till I got to my car. By this time I couldn’t find her to say Thank You.

Superbowl experience

I took my friend to the Super Bowl experience with me.

Father’s Day deed

Sugar and Spice inspired us todo an act of kindness today when they paid for our donuts we were taking to the park to enjoy with the kids. As we were fueling up on caffeine through the Starbucks drive thru we decided to pay it forward and get the order behind us.

Birthday Girl & Go Ahead Grocer

While at grocery store allowed a woman with just a couple items to go ahead of us even though we had belt loaded. Also left 50% tip to server who was celebrating her birthday working.
